Air asia...is like ryan air...non frills but expect lots of delay
Kamikaze airways.
LOL
Air fares in Asia are cheap anyway, if you convert from EUR or USD or GBP. By my experience, the best and safest budget carriers in Asia are Singapore based ValueJet and Tiger Airways.
Thailand's Bangkok Airways and Nok Air are also excellent.
Air Asia has some issues: Thai Air Asia has relatively well maintained aircraft but for some reason, Air Asia Indonesia has rather rickety planes. Air Asia Malaysia is OK.
Indonesian budget carriers- Adam Air, Batavia Air, Jatayu Air, Lion Air, Wings Fly, Merpati Nusantera Airlines are best avoided. Though they offer dirt cheap fares, their aircraft maintenance and safety is suspect.
India has two private carriers flying from various Indian airports to destinations in Asia. These include Jet Airways and Air Sahara, which are very safe and their aircraft are well maintained.
air asia, tiger airways, viva macau, etc.
Depends on where you want to go of course and how much baggage you have. I got stung doing an internal (ie Bangkok to Phuket flight ) with some small Thai operator last year. An extra 20 kg in baggage meant that the ticket cost about $80AUD but the excess cost another $70AUD so keep that in mind. Check expedia.com as this can give you good prices before going to an agent so you know what a good deal is. Bon voyage!
