What is the future of the Asia Cup. Will it ever take place?

The Asia Cup cricket tournament keeps getting postponed due to the congested fixture schedule; being pushed back to Jne 2008 due to the IPL. Will it ever get played? What is the future of the tournament? The ACC does not seem to exert much influence in world cricket. Would it be prudent to simply scrap the tournament altogether?
