What is the cheapest way to get to SouthEast Asia from Miami, FL?

I don't have alot of money to spend, so every bit of savings helps. I'm looking for the most inexpensive way to get to SouthEast Asia. I am planning to go backpacking for the month of January. Any suggestions?

Start searching for plane tickets on cheaptickets, travelocity, etc and see who is offering the least expensive fares. If you are planning to go in January 2009 good luck. Plane ticket prices tend to be cheaper when booked further in advance.

A Steamer or Freighter.

I also imagined that if one stood at the gate where the jet takes off from, asks for any empty seat ticket, offers %25 of sell price, they should take it, the plane is flying there anyways and %25 would cover the cost of fuel a medium sized person would use.
