some of my friends went to thailand for 6 weeks last summer and not including the price they paid for their flights which was roundabout €1000 they spent about €2500 and €3000. they didnt work at all over there and said that they did everything that there was to do ! considering thailand is pretty cheap i think thats alot of money to spend in 2 weeks but to be safe i think you would at least need €2500. try talk to some people who've been over there and see what their thoughts are!
It really depends on which parts of SE Asia you wish to visit. As a rough guide spending money should set you back about €1000 - €1200 per month, flights from Ireland are about €1000, the cheapest countries are Cambodia, Laos & Vietnam, Thailand can be a bit more expensive especially for accommodation in the more touristy areas. Travel in general is cheap although overall a lot will depend on what you consider slumming it is
I spent last spring to visit some of SE country.
well... I went there with some of friends so we could share the cost of hotel etc.
For one week - I spent € 100 - 6 weeks = € 600 (foods, hotel, local travel etc ex. local transport from other country to other country.
you can choose between budget airlines, bus or train.
(could be around € 500)
and the ticket from ireland to thailand or other city in SE Asia cost around € 800 - 900.
And some countries need a visa on arrival will cost around € 25 - € 60. Check whether you need a visa or not to visit a country that you wish!
Good luck
if i was you i would use www.ytb.com/fkarengi to save money for the trip a lot of money use it and see ho much it will cost plus you can use it for good hotels for less
When my beau and I went for a trip at some of the islands and cities in the Philippines last Oct. to Dec. 2006 (6 weeks holiday).. we spend almost $3,000 excluding the international airfare. Prepare at least $2,500 excluding the airfare of course.
