How long will it take to file a petition of a U.S citizen for a spouse from asia?

We have a 2 years old son who's U.S citizen though we're not married at that time and just after two months, he got the passport. I'm married to him last december. He's scared that it'll take forever when he file a petiton for me. He's planning to file from asia. Is that a good idea? Why it takes so long in the process? I'd like to be with my husband and my son. I can't bear of seeing my son playing or talking without his father accompany.

Is your husband the US citizen?

When you say he is planning to file from asia, is he currently living there?

If your husband is the US citizen and currently residing in asia, it can be much much quicker to file at the CIS office abroad. Which asian country are we talking about?

You can find great support and answers to many questions from others that have gone and are going through this process, as http://www.familybasedimmigration.com/forum

Wishing you the best.

this is for mother for 5,, i didnt understand what you mean

6 months to a year from the time the petition is filed until the visa will be issued.

There is an immigration lawyer at www.visacentral.net and she will answer your question for free in her Wednesday chat at 11 am central.

Don't waist your time asking how long it will take you to finish with it as there is not other way than filling.....just go see a lawer now and start the process. The earlier you start ,sooner you will get it done..good luck and make it happen.
